About the Artists
Andrew Ludtke is a trombonist and music educator living in Calgary, AB. Andrew was born and raised in Red Deer, Alberta and starting playing the trombone in grade 6 band. He is a graduate of Humber College and a former member of the Toronto All-Star Big Band. Andrew is a versatile performer in many different styles: jazz, classical, R&B, latin, rock, funk, ska, reggae, and new age. He is in demand as a section player and a soloist, bringing his 15 years of experience and technical expertise to each performance. Olga Osipova is an award-winning singer/songwriter/ pianist. A new Canadian, Olga grew up in St. Petersburg, Russia, and studied music in Germany. Those diverse cultural experiences are well reflected in her music, which besides jazz is full with flavors of world, cabaret, and fine European chanson. Olga’s all-original debut CD “Velvet and Lace” won two BC Interior Music Awards (Best Jazz Artist and Album Design); her music received rave reviews from the press and was added to rotation on many radio stations in Canada and across the world (USA, Australia, Brazil, New Zealand, France, Portugal, Italy, Netherlands, Poland etc.) Olga
Hailed by the Montreal Jazz Festival as “one of the greatest female singers in the history of Canadian jazz,” Cheryl Fisher is also a composer and lyricist who has recorded six CDs under her own name. A Global Music award winner for her latest disc, “Quietly There,” and voted Best New Jazz Artist by the Alberta Recording Industry Association, she holds a Bachelor Degree in Education (with distinction) from the University of Calgary and a Masters Degree in Jazz Vocal Performance from the University of Miami, where she also taught. Dean Pierno, drummer, percussionist, bandleader, has been making his living in music for over 30 years. Dean’s musical journey has included performances with: Tommy Banks, Gary Guthman ,The Edmonton Symphony Orchestra, Don Rickles Orchestra, The Louie Armstrong Tribute, Ekos (Edmonton Kiwanis) Singers, Ashley MacIsaac, Bob McGrath, Dan Akroyd, Bob Stroup, Sue Moss, Tyler Hamilton, Edmonton Musical Theater, Bjorn Thoroddsen (Reykjavik Calling), The Melisizwe Brothers, Dave Bennett, Rollanda Lee, Bobby Cairns, Alfie Zappacosta just to name a few. Fluent in all styles of music, Dean has recorded over 30 albums. He brings passion and enthusiasm to every tune.
Named one of the Avenue Magazine’s “Top 40 under 40” (2013), Bernerhas appeared alongside such notable jazz luminaries as P.J. Perry, BobbyShew, Hugh Fraser, Slide Hampton, Bob Stroup, Chu Cho Valdez, LewTabackin, Guido Basso, and Tommy Banks, Hillario Duran and commercialtalents Gino Vinelli, The Temptations, Dan Aykroyd, and E.C. Scott. Hehas performed at Edmonton’s Jazz City Festival and Yardbird Suite, beena featured artist at the Montreal Jazz Festival, and played Calgary’s“Beatniq”, Saskatoon’s “The Bassment”, Vancouver’s “The Cellar”, andnumerous other jazz clubs throughout Canada and the U.S. In addition, hehas performed on CBC’s “Hockey Night in Canada” and numerous radio andTV
